Award Nominations


The submission deadline for NAP's 2020 awards is December 1, 2019.  The winners will be recognized at our 2020 Forum March 12-14 in San Diego.


Nominations are accepted
for the following three awards for 2020:

  • The Nicholas Andrew Cummings Award
  • Interprofessional Group Recognition Award
  • Creativity in Practice and Education Award

Descriptions and criteria for each can be found below.

Submissions are accepted from all NAP Fellows.  There is no official nomination form; simply send your nomination letter with background on the nominee and details on how they fit the award criteria to:

Nicholas Andrew Cummings Award

Named for NAP's Founder, this award is presented annually to a Distinguished Fellow of NAP who has demonstrated outstanding or extraordinary contributions to the National Academies of Practice and interprofessional health care.

  • Nominee must be a NAP Fellow
  • Nominator can be a NAP member or non-member (cannot self-nominate)
  • Given annually
  • Nomination letter submitted to headquarters with background on the nominee, a CV of the nominee, and details on how they fit the award criteria

Creativity in Practice and Education Award

This award recognizes a person and/or team who display creative solutions in interprofessional education and/or interprofessional practice, thereby achieving improvements in health care.

  • Nominee(s) can be NAP members or non-members
  • Nominator can be a NAP member or non-member (and can be a member of a group he/she is nominating)
  • May be given annually (when a suitable candidate is nominated)
  • Nomination letter submitted to headquarters with background on the nominee and details on how they fit the award criteria

NAPO James A. Boucher Award

Awarded to a NAP Optometry Academy member who has demonstrated exemplary contributions to the profession of optometry and healthcare field and has upheld the mission of NAP to advance science and the concept of interdisciplinary healthcare.

Interprofessional Group Recognition Award

Given to groups who have made enduring contributions to interprofessional practice and education.

  • Nominee(s) can be NAP members or non-members
  • Nominator can be a NAP member or non-member (and can be a member of a group he/she is nominating)
  • May be given annually (when a suitable candidate is nominated)
  • Nomination letter submitted to headquarters with background on the nominee and details on how they fit the award criteria
